Back dating income support
If they can be backdated will it be processed automatically or would I have to request it from DWP?
Thank You for any help Your husband's PIP claim has been handled very quickly, which sounds as if it has gone via the 'special rules' route.
My best wishes to you both at what might be a difficult time.
You will need to notify the office dealing with the Income Support claim of any PIP award.
It is always best to make your claim as soon as possible. If you are over pension credit age, the law requires us to automatically treat your claim for Housing Benefit as being made 3 months before we actually received your claim. This would mean we can consider paying you for a period up to 3 months before the date we received your application form. Please note that if you or your partner have reached the State Pension Credit qualifying age but either of you receives Income Support, income-based Jobseeker's Allowance, income-related Employment and Support Allowance or Universal Credit we treat you as working age, not pension age.Working age customers are those under the qualifying age for State Pension Credit.
